          What is the 6.1TD Rate?

The 6.1TD Rate is aimed at companies with high tension installations, especially those with a supply between 1 kV and 30 kV and a contracted power higher than 450 kW, regulated through Circular 3/2020, issued by the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC).

This rate allows adjusting energy consumption to different time periods, which facilitates cost optimization and greater efficiency in electricity use.

It is ideal for businesses with high energy consumption that seek a flexible solution tailored to their energy needs, whether for new installations or existing supplies.

          Time flexibility

Periods P1-P6 vary according to time, day, and season to optimize energy costs and adjust consumption based on demand.

          Power adjustment

Adjust the contracted power based on your company's actual consumption to avoid penalties and achieve better energy efficiency.

          No cuts for excess power

Instead of power cuts, a penalty is applied every 15 minutes if you exceed the contracted power, avoiding interruptions and allowing you to maintain the supply.

          Large consumers

Designed for companies with high energy demand, the rate offers flexibility to consumption variations, ensuring savings on your electricity bill.

Schedules and periods for the 6.1TD Rate

The 6.1TD Rate sets six time periods for both contracted power and energy consumption. These periods vary depending on the season, day of the week, and geographic zone, allowing companies to optimize their consumption and reduce costs.

          Electrical seasons in the Peninsula

The 6.1TD Rate sets different electricity prices based on the season of the year. This means the cost of energy varies depending on the month when the consumption occurs. The electrical seasons are divided into four categories:

          • High: January, February, July, and December. This is the period with the highest prices due to high demand.
          • Medium-high: March and November. Prices are intermediate, still higher than average.
          • Medium: June, August, and September. The cost of electricity is more balanced compared to other seasons.
          • Low: April, May, and October. These months have lower demand, so prices are reduced.

Distribution of time periods by season of the year in the Iberian Peninsula

Take advantage of low-demand periods to consume more energy at a reduced price, and adjust your contracted power based on your actual needs to avoid unnecessary costs for excess power. Types of days by season

In addition to the electrical seasons, the cost of electricity also varies depending on the type of day. There are five categories established:

          • Type A: Monday to Friday (non-holiday) in high season. This is the period with the highest price due to high electricity demand.
          • Type B: Monday to Friday (non-holiday) in medium-high season. The price is intermediate-high, cheaper than high season but still high.
          • Type B1: Monday to Friday (non-holiday) in medium season. It has a moderate price, lower than Type A and B days but higher than Type C and D.
          • Type C: Monday to Friday (non-holiday) in low season. These weekdays have the lowest price, ideal for consuming more energy without a high impact on the bill.
          • Type D: Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays throughout the year. These are the days with the lowest energy cost, perfect for scheduling high-consumption equipment use.

Distribution of time periods by type of day

This rate structure allows businesses to adjust their consumption based on the most favorable hours, optimizing costs and improving energy efficiency.

          Penalty for excess power

If you exceed the contracted power, a penalty will be applied for each 15-minute period in which the power has been exceeded. Although the supply will not be cut off, this additional cost will increase your bill. To avoid these penalties, it is important to identify which time slots exceed the power and adjust your device usage accordingly.
