Types of self-consumption in homeowners' communities

Save on your electricity bill by sharing solar energy in your community, with or without connection to the public grid.

Collective self-consumption with public grid

The generated energy is shared through the public grid according to an agreement between neighbors. Useful when apartments are in different buildings or without a shared installation.

💡 Ideal for reducing consumption in each home and covering common expenses such as outdoor lighting or entrance halls.

Collective self-consumption with internal grid

Electricity is distributed through the community’s internal grid, without going through the public one. Useful in communities with a shared installation for all neighbors.

💡 Powers elevators, lighting in entrances and garages, water pumps and part of the consumption in the homes.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, property owner communities can take advantage of their rooftops to install collective photovoltaic solar panels, reducing general electricity costs and promoting building sustainability.

At Lumisa we help you with the entire process: from technical and structural roof analysis, to coordinating the board meeting and defining the agreement between neighbors.

There are two formulas according to your community's needs:

  • Installation for common areas: performance covers lights, elevators and entrances, reducing common expenses.
  • Collective self-consumption among owners: generation is distributed among homes according to established legal distribution, maximizing individual savings.

Which suits you better? We advise you with a personalized technical proposal. You can call us at 900 811 473 or use the solar simulator.

Collective self-consumption consists of generating shared solar energy that is automatically distributed among owners according to their consumption.

An intelligent metering system is installed and an official distribution agreement is signed. Generated energy avoids being fed to the grid, saving tolls, taxes and electrical costs.

Installation by Lumisa usually takes between 3 and 7 days, equivalent to a simple residential installation. However, after installation, mandatory procedures must be performed:

  • Self-Consumption Code (CAU) for installations up to 15kW (simplified process).
  • M1 Communication from retailer to distributor.
  • Inspection to install generation meter (if applicable).
  • Only installations over 15kW require traditional access and connection application.

This process may extend depending on electric company availability.

To distribute energy in a neighborhood community, the following is established:

  • Distribution percentages agreed among all neighbors (must add up to 100%).
  • Percentages can be fixed (always the same) or variable according to time of day to optimize utilization.
  • Legal agreement signed by all collective self-consumption participants.
  • Metering system that automatically records each neighbor's consumption.

At Lumisa we manage the entire process and calculate the most beneficial distribution for everyone.
